The Land Development aspect of the Program provides building and development review and acts as a liaison between Environmental Health and various County and State agencies. This Program approves building permits, as well as reviews on-site wastewater treatment systems, tract, parcel map and planning cases. The Water Quality aspect of the Program provides oversight for small drinking water systems within the County, the permitting of construction and/or abandonment of all types of water wells and registration of well drillers. The Program is certified by as the Local Primacy Agency by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to regulate community water systems up to 200 service connections. Assistance is provided to other programs to aid in evaluation of recreational, swimming facilities and on site disposal systems. Staff also responds to major sewage spills or discharges.
Subsurface Disposal Systems
Departmental staff provide design review for sewage disposal installations and site evaluation for siting or installation of a sewage system.
Staff assigned to this branch provide environmental review (related to water and sewer provision) of designated cases submitted through the Riverside County Planning Department. For case status, please contact the County of Riverside Transportation and Land Management Agency. Departmental staff also provide verification of water supply for parcels and tracts.
